THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT Let me start off with a direct attack against the ignorance of the Holy Spirit. For It is the most powerful source a man has of communicating with the Father. Jesus said it was better for Him to go away and send the Holy Spirit to mankind. (Jn. 16: 7) That means the Holy Spirit is better for mankind than Jesus in person. Now if I would be honest, given the choice, Jesus in person, or the Holy Spirit, I am sure I would select Jesus. What about you? Yet in the former scripture Jesus told His disciples it was much better for them if He went away, and sent the Holy Spirit! When the Holy Spirit comes, it will teach and guide us into all truth. Now we see why we are lacking in truth. The Holy Spirit will comfort us and show us things to come. Without the Holy Spirit there are no peace and no vision. These are just a few of the many works of the Holy Spirit. But the primary function of the Holy Spirit is to keep your spirit in touch with God. For without the Spirit´s leading, people will suffer. Now that we know the Holy Spirit let us look at how to obtain the Holy Spirit. First, it is not just an emotional overpowering, that we sometimes see in Baptist services. It is not spooky or scary, It´s never demanding, or causes confusion. As a guide It direct our path, but never pulls or pushes us. Truth is the Holy Spirit only receives and gives the things of God. The Holy Spirit is a messenger of God. It knows everything you need to know, and It shows everything you need to see. When you know something that is not uplifting, it was not the Holy Spirit that revealed it to you. The Holy Spirit was sent to guide and teach, not cause confusion. The reason I am making such a point, in letting you know that the Holy Spirit does not operate like you and me, is because frequently we ask God a question, and before we can get the answer, we take matters into our own hands. For instance, you ask God to show you the truth about someone you doubt, sometimes you get an answer overnight, but when it takes a couple of days, your human mind starts accusing the other person. Maybe the person was honest, but before you received an answer from the Holy Spirit, you accused and sentenced the suspected. Maybe they were guilty, but your emotions darkened your reasoning, and instead of complete trust in the Holy Spirit, you caused harm. I can’t begin to tell you of the times I tried to outrun, or out-think the Holy Spirit. It took so many mistakes just to hear the still small voice that speaks to our heart. And most of us don’t hear the voice of the Spirit because It is only audible when you decide to hear it in your heart. This means as long as we are being guided by our emotions, we are not aligned with the Spirit. When we began to die to ourselves, and seek communication with the Father, slowly we began to identify the voice of our savior. Sadly most people are afraid to communicate with anything not physical. Well, this is wrong and ungodly. The Spirit world is more real than the physical world. And the only way to serve God is in spirit and truth. This quote is found in the Bible. Now when we think about the reason Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, we realize how wrong we are in underestimating It. We have not accepted all that Jesus promised to give us. People are interpreting the word of God, instead of receiving revelation knowledge, they continuously enforce rules on how to live a Godly life, but the rules lack love. We have enough rules for two or three worlds, but we continue to destroy each other. It is time to look at the Book again and began to understand the Power of the Holy Spirit that is available to mankind. In the beginning, when God began to speak about mankind´s creation He made sure Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and everything created knew whom man was. God gave the Holy Spirit Its purpose on that day; He was to guide mankind, so mankind would always be in communication with his Creator. He was sent to comfort mankind, so mankind would never feel alone. God knew exactly what He was doing when He assigned the Holy Spirit to mankind Now let me clarify that the Holy Spirit never makes mankind take action. It is as gentle as a gentle breeze. It flows through our heart, whispering guidance. It tells of approaching danger, and it comforts when needed. Only love, joy, peace, happiness kindness, long suffering, and patience are fruits of the Spirit. Never will the Spirit participate in harming mankind. This would be completely contrary to His purpose. The Holy Spirit also never causes mankind to act rude. There has been much bad information concerning the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Many religious people have claimed the Holy Spirit makes one jump up and down. Well most of us jump up and down because we are repeating the actions of others. It is possible to be filled with the Holy Spirit and not jump up and down. There was no evidence of Jesus jumping up and down when the Spirit came upon Him. The Bible would have said it was required to have a holy fit, when receiving the Spirit, if it were required. We have acted religious so long that we know not how to get quiet and allow the Spirit to flow. We wait for great emotional events to be filled with the Spirit. Only to find we are left void and powerless after all the shouting stops. Our experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit becomes a once in a lifetime experience, and we spend the rest of our Christian walk trying to get another emotional high. We get filled with a drop of the Holy Spirit´s power, and think we have it made. We stop seeking further understanding of the Holy Spirit´s purpose. And this is the reason there are so many misunderstandings about the word of God. The surest way of seeing the Holy Spirit is through souls that are filled with a desire to help others. Only the love of God, through the Holy Spirit, desires to help others. Only the love of God, through the Holy Spirit, allows patient and kindness, while enduring rejection from others. Let me assure you that the Holy Spirit is never tired or weary, from mankind’s lack of love. The Holy Spirit is a Joyous Spirit, infused with the power of God´s Love, dedicated to helping mankind live daily in his God given dominion. When Jesus got filled with the Holy Spirit he was driven to help others. The Holy Spirit guided and comforted Jesus daily from the time He realized it was God´s Messenger whispering in His heart. So remember, when you are overcome with problems, and lack power and wisdom, to dominate, you have the Holy Spirit waiting to give you all the assistance you need. The Holy Spirit is always ready to assist you in doing the work of the Father. Take time to listen to Its whispers of love, guiding your footsteps. Humble yourself and desire truth. Start giving to everyone you meet, even if it is just a smile. Truly desire to elevate others, and watch the power of God´s Spirit open all doors and remove all obstacles attempting to stop His purpose. Once we really understand just how much power is available to believers, we will see how wrong it is to keep asking God to Help us when He has given us the best Help possible, the Holy Spirit. Paul, the greatest apostle of The New Testament, always used the Holy Spirit, after he got out of law, and became familiar with Love. After the power of the Holy Spirit, Paul was fit for helping others. Paul was so wise he wrote two-third of The New Testament. He destroyed great cults that were built on false doctrines. He put to shame over zealous Jewish priests, and kings, who served God in their own pride. He ran the race and never lost faith, and when it was time to die, he accepted it gladly. But the essential thought we should gather from Paul, is, he was only human. This means believers of today can do the great things Paul did, and more if they would get to know the Holy Spirit. Jesus said John the Baptist was greatest man that every lived, but even the smallest believer today is more powerful than John the Baptist. Now only the word of God could make such a statement. And if we say we believe the Bible, then let us believe every word is true, especially Mat. 11:11.
