| LIVING A CHRISTIAN LIFE Many people claim they are Christians or believe in Christ. Well their lives dont support what they are saying. I want to clarify that the name Christian was not a pleasant name at the time it was assigned to the followers of Christ. Christian was given to Jesus followers by the very people who crucified Jesus. The religious groups that were against Jesus teachings used the word Christian to identify and separate His followers. There was nothing glamorous about being a Christian when the name was first applied. Followers of Christ were tormented and fed to the lions, burned at the stakes and driven from their homes. But these brave men and women believed so much in Jesus that they refused to abandon the title, Christian. The Bible tells us that it was at Antioch that Jesus followers were first called Christians. And please understand Jesus followers were called Christians because unbelievers said they were acting just like Christ. So we see the Christians of Jesus day being tiled cause of his Christian like ways. This my friend is the difference between a true Christian, and one who professes to be a Christian. This is the reason Jesus said you would know the tree by the fruit it bears. Jesus was a man who never told a lie. When asked for His opinion, Jesus always told the truth. True Christians needs to stop pacifying and justifying wrongs done by the world, and tell them, in love. They are living in error. If you get a chance to help others be free while freeing yourself then you are very close to Christianity A true Christian seek to know and understand Jesus purpose. A true Christian treat others the way they want to be treated, and forgive those who abuse them. There is no hate towards people though you detest what they are doing. True Christians is energized to motivate others. Christians are happy on rainy days. They look forward to helping others, and dont expect to be rewarded. Noticed I didnt say true Christians always go to church, or dont wear makeup, or dress holy. Going to church, not wearing makeup, and dressing holy is only for mankind. It has nothing to do with being a true Christian. When looking at the scriptures we see Jesus never called himself a Christian. Jesus was so busy living a Godly life that he didnt have to wear a title. Neither did Jesus have to wear a rosary or cross to prove his Christianity. Jesus never spent money to advertise He was coming to a city. The people came out by the drove to be with the son of God. Jesus lifestyle exemplified who and what He was. Once when Jesus picked up the whip and drove the money changers out of the temple, He showed wrath. Yes, Jesus got angry, with the way certain men were using His Fathers house, to take advantage of the poor people. Jesus whip was directed at the rules and laws of religion, that kept man enslaved. Remember Jesus walked among men to show them the love of God. Now if we are truly followers of God arent we supposed to spread His love. Another point I want to bring before sisters and brothers are the lack of brotherhood among so called religious groups. It is very unlikely Jesus, and Mohammed would have a conflict, yet I see distant between Muslims and Christians, or Catholics and Protestants. Jesus would have talked to all of them. Because Jesus would never refuse to talk to a man because of his religious titles, or his practice of serving God. A true Christian must welcome all mankind as God welcomes them. People who dont share Godly love are mistaken. Now that you know that the name Christian represents one who follows Christ are you honestly able to wear the title? When was the last time you helped someone without being noticed for your work? Are you willing to inconvenience yourself to help others? Do you have a longing in your heart to help everyone you meet? If you answered yes to the above questions then you are a follower, no matter what you are titled. |
